CLEAR AND COLD ON THIS LAST DAY OF METEOROLOGICAL WINTER….
Meteorological winter is going out quietly, but very much on
the cold side as an Arctic air mass is sitting over the region.
The temperature has struggled to reach the mid 20s early this
afternoon despite an abundance of bright sunshine. On a side
note, the sun angle for today is about the same as October 12th!
The dew point has been in the mid single digits, indicative
of the arctic air in place.
The wind has been on the gusty side, averaging around 14mph,
with many gusts between 25-30mph. This is making the wind chill
hold in the mid teens for the most part.
Visibility has been good starting the day around 50 miles,
improving to 70 miles for the balance of the day.
The high so far today is 26F, 14 degrees below the normal
maximum of 40F. The low since midnight is 15F, which is 7
degrees below the normal minimum of 22F.
