BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2026
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0657E
SUNSET:  1700E

ABUNDANT SUNSHINE AND LESS COLD, BUT STILL BELOW NORMAL….

Today has featured a great deal of sunshine through some high
thin cirrus clouds. With lighter wind and less cold temperatures,
it actually feels rather nice out there today compared to recent
days.

The temperature has reached the low 30s early this afternoon.
This is the first day to reach 30F since January 23rd, when we
had a high of 32F. We are currently running a streak of 11 days
with readings at or below the freezing mark (much of that time
well below). Dew point values have been very gradually rising
through the single digits today, indicative that the arctic air
mass continues to linger for now.

Winds have been much lighter today, mainly out of the northwest.
The average speed for the day so far is around 13mph, but the
trend has been for decreasing speeds as we work into the early
afternoon hours. Gusts were strongest during the week hours of
the day, the peak gust for the day occuring around midnight
with a value of 25mph.

Visibility has been excellent today, with the view holding
between 60-70 miles all day.

The maximum temperature so far today is 31F degrees, which is
4 degrees below the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 11F degrees, which is 7 degrees below the
normal low of 18F.
