BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
FOG LIFTS AMIDST UNSEASONABLY WARM DAY, BUT CLOUD COVER PERSISTS…
The fog that lurked over the hill for the majority
of December 2 finally lifted in the morning hours of the observation
period, producing a clear sky in its wake that proved to be short lived.
Since then, low pressure has continued to endure with the
mercury holding steady throughout the day. The maintained low
can partially account for the quick turnaround to a near overcast
sky by the time of the 1 P.M. observation, with a dense
stratocumulus layer replacing the relatively clear skies observed
at 10 P.M. Southerly winds have been replaced by more zonal westerlies
that should help bring a return to more seasonal temperatures as the week
progresses. Speeds have elevated throughout the day with a peak wind of
35 mph recorded at 12:45 P.M.. The rainfall total from this past storm has
started December off with a noteworthy 1.04 inches collected.
