DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2013
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

SUNNY AND DRY CONDITIONS TODAY DESPITE CONSIDERABLE
HIGH CLOUDINESS

This morning was sunny and seasonable with a temperature of 64.
The bright sunshine has allowed the temperature to warm to about 79 degrees
this afternoon. We should see a high around the low 80s. The day will
finish near normal or even slightly below. It will continue our pattern of
normal to slightly below for the month of August. Today’s dew points are
in the mid 50s with a drying trend since this morning. The dry conditions
appear to be in all layers of the atmosphere, noticeable by the cloud
patterns. We have mostly sunny conditions with most of the visible clouds
being cirrus. The common cumulus clouds are few and far between. There is
a visible haze and visibility has been around 25-30 miles. Haze and cirrus
clouds are most likely due to the warmer temps and humidity that is moving
in for tomorrow. It should break our streak of below to near normal
temperatures. Tomorrow could be the first above normal day for August!

An interesting note is that we have not had a significant precipitation day
since August 9th. The month has had an overall dry pattern and we are only
0.06 inch above normal. Most of all the rain we received came only on one
day.
