ABUNDANT SUNSHINE AND MILD TEMPERATURES ON THIS SOLAR ECLIPSE DAY….

We’ve waited for a day like this. After all the clouds and wet
weather over the past several days, today is a very welcome change.
Sunshine has been the theme today with rapidly warming temperatures
and a light wind. Near ideal conditions today for the viewing of the
Solar Eclipse, which will have about 92% totality here locally.

Temperatures started the day in the mid 30s, but rapidly rose during
the morning hours, reaching the low to mid 60s by early this afternoon.
The dew point is on the lower side, with readings in the 20s. So the
air is quite dry.

The wind has been mainly on the light side with an average speed so
far today of around 10mph. It’s been mainly out of a north-northwest
to northwest direction this morning, but has become more variable as
we push into the afternoon hours. The peak gust for the day so far is
around 21mph, which occurred just after 1pm.

Visibility is excellent today, holding at around 70 miles all day.

The maximum temperature so far today is 64F degrees, which is 11
degrees above the normal high of 53F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 36F degrees, which is 1 degree above the normal low of 35F.
