RAINY, OVERCAST, AND BELOW AVERAGE TEMPERATURES TODAY AT BLUE HILL…
Today has been rather raw and chilly overall. Rain moved into the
area early this morning and was mostly light with times of moderate
precipitation throughout the late morning and afternoon hours. It’s
definitely been the kind of day to stay indoors, read a book, or
perhaps read over the climate reports on bluehill.org.
Temperatures have remained on the cooler side for most of the day,
mostly due to the rain and cloud cover. Our temperatures overnight
were slightly above average, but our high temperature has remained
well below average for the day.
The wind has been mostly out of the northeast today with an average
of about 9 mph. Our peak gust so far has been about 23 mph which
occurred just after 1pm when the wind began to shift in the ENE
direction.
Visibility has been poor for most of the day. We started with about
12 miles early this morning and with the rain came foggy conditions
by late morning. This caused visibility to further deteriorate, leaving
us with only about 5 miles of ‘viewing ability’ by the last observation.
The maximum temperature so far today has been 57F, which is
11 degrees below the normal high of 68F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 53F, which is 2 degrees above the normal low
of 51F.
