DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2013
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

RELATIVELY CALM, DRY DAY WITH TEMPERATURES NEAR NORMAL;
SUN FINALLY MAKES EARLY AFTERNOON APPEARANCE;
28th ANNIVERSARY OF HURRICANE GLORIA

Winds continue on the relatively light side (< 20 mph), following yesterday's very light winds which averaged only 6.2 mph for the entire day. The wind direction has returned to a NE direction, after a few hours of NW winds this morning. Temperatures are very close to the 30-year normals for the date, much like yesterday. The afternoon high has reached the mid 60s, which is slightly on the cool side. The morning low of 53F was slightly on the warm side. The sun finally made an appearance early this afternoon. An extensive layer of cumulus and overlying stratocumulus are finally pulling away from the coast, allowing for sunshine to prevail. Today marks the 28th anniversary of Hurricane Gloria which produced a 100 mph peak wind gust on the summit, but only 0.40 inch of rainfall. More details, including the detailed observations from that day can be found in the Member Content area on bluehill.org. Today's Observations: 7 A.M.
