COOLER WITH A LIGHT EASTERLY BREEZE AND EXCELLENT VISIBILITY….

Today featured incredibly pleasant weather with dew points
dropping into the mid 40’s and a cool easterly breeze. Wind
is light at 5 mph on average with the highest gust around 15 mph
so far.

Skies are almost clear with an excellent visibility of 85 miles
all day long. This is quite the difference from weather seen
last month!

The summit continues to have a rainfall deficit, with
1.41″ below normal for August, and an annual deficit of 11.14″!
Most of the Boston area remains under extreme drought conditions.
But the drought has eased up a bit to our south and east.

August 2022 will go down as the 2nd warmest on record here at Blue
Hill. Here is the rankings list going back to 1885!

BHO Highest August 24-Hour Adjusted Mean Temperature, deg F (1885-2022):

1) 74.1 in 2016

4) 72.6 in 2012
72.6 in 2021
6) 72.5 in 1988
7) 72.4 in 2015

The summer season (Jun-Aug) will go down as the 8th driest on record
with only 6.00 inches measured for the 3 month period.

BHO Lowest Summer (Jun-Aug) Precipitation, inches (1885-2022):
