UNSEASONABLY WARM WEATHER CONTINUES WITH PLENTY OF SUNSHINE
TO START OFF THE WEEKEND…
A high pressure system is keeping us warm and dry, which has
been the pattern for the past several days. Mostly clear skies
were seen through much of the day with a few cumulus clouds that
appeared during the late morning and early afternoon.
Temperatures continued to climb into the low 80s by noon today and
so far the high temperature is 83F, which is much warmer than our
expected temperatures for this time of year. Our record high for
today is 91F, set in 1957. Along with the rising temperatures has
come with an increase of the dew point, making for a more sticky
feel to the air. The lower wind speeds have only emphasized the
sticky feel.
Winds were light today, mostly out of the west-southwest, and then
by the early afternoon became variable with periods of calm wind.
The average speed for the day so far is around 8mph, with most
wind occurring in the overnight and early morning hours. The peak
gust so far for the day is around 18mph, which occurred around
1:30am.
Visibility was around 40 miles for most of the day, mostly
due to the wildfire smoke layer that has been in our area for much
of the week and with the addition of the rising dew points.
The maximum temperature so far today is 83F, which is 9 degrees
above the normal high of 74F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 59F, which is 2 degrees above the normal low of 57F.
