BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2020
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

A DAZZLING FALL DAY ATOP GREAT BLUE HILL…

Clear skies, light winds, and temperatures in the upper-30s
were found here upon our arrival. The low bottomed out at
37 degrees marking the coldest air of the season. The last
time the temperature reached 37 or below was back on
May 13th…149 days or just under 5 months ago! Visibility
has been astounding – horizon to horizon – averaging 85 miles
throughout the day.

Fall colors are also becoming more visible around us. The
Neponset River Valley is exhibiting the most advanced and
vibrant colors thanks to its low-lying elevation allowing
for superb radiational cooling on clear, calm nights.

The high so far today is 57, 6 degrees below the daily
normal of 63F. The low since midnight is 48F, which is
2 degrees above the normal low of 45F.
