DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2013
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
YESTERDAY’S VERY BENEFICIAL RAINFALL REACHES TOTAL OF 0.31 INCH;
MUCH COOLER TODAY, CONTINUED BREEZY;
PLENTY OF CLOUDS DEVELOP BY LATE MORNING WITH A BRIEF SHOWER THIS AFTERNOON
Light, steady rain that began yesterday morning and lasted into the evening
totaled 0.31 inch of very beneficial rainfall. This was the most substantial
rainfall since 0.56 in fell way back on October 6.
A cold front swept through the area late yesterday morning, and the
temperature dropped steadily from the 60s down to the morning low today of
31F. Temperatures are about 15-20 degrees cooler than yesterday. Plenty
of clouds and even a few isolated light showers developed this morning and
are persisting into the afternoon. A brief, light rain shower provided a
trace of precipitation on the summit around 1:30 P.M. EST. The cloud cover
is also helping to keep temperatures on the cool side this afternoon.
Breezy W winds have picked up this afternoon, gusting at times in the
30-35 mph range.
