DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY

ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

COOLER TEMPS WITH NW WINDS, DROUGHT MONITOR
LESSONS DROUGHT FROM EXTREME TO SEVERE

The cold front which passed late yesterday afternoon has brought
cooler, more seasonable temperatures and NW winds.  No additional rain
fell after the brief rain shower yesterday morning.  Dew points have
also dropped into the 30s with the arrival of drier air from the NW.

October’s greater-than-normal precip. has helped to lesson drought
conditions in the Boston area.  The US Drought Monitor updated the
drought status to Severe this week.  The portion of the state in
extreme drought decreased from 38% to 29% from October 25, 2016 to
November 1, 2016.
