PIVOTAL DAY EXHIBITS CRESTING HIGH PRESSURE…
As the headline indicates, today’s weather is highlighted
by the shift to falling pressure readings and a return to
cloudy skies ahead of the weekend. This comes in contrast
to the past 36 hours, where clear skies and northwest winds
enabled significant temperature drops, reflected in our minimum
of 27 F this morning. Today appears to be on course for colder than
average temperatures, but looking ahead, today’s notable reduction in
wind speed coupled with a shift to southwesterly airflow
should enable some warm air advection from here on out. Yesterday,
observed winds were fairly sustained north-westerlies, with significant
gusts coming in over 40 MPH. Morning visibility was limited by distant
clouds lingering in the west, eventually moving into proximity for the
afternoon hours, where a near overcast ceiling was observed
for the 1 PM observation.
