COLD AIR SURGE BRINGS GUSTY WINDS AND SPOTTY SNOW SQUALLS….

Today started with a steady flow out of the west-southwest under
mostly cloudy skies. During the midmorning we had some clearing
followed by increasing clouds as snow squalls were seen in the
area.

Temperatures dipped below freezing during the overnight hours
and finally started to warm after 9am. Despite plenty of sunshine
we have stayed well below normal in temperatures. Dew points have
remained in the mid to low 20’s throughout the day, providing an
added chill to the already blustery air.

The wind has been very active today. Winds have been out of the
west for much of today, and have steadily increased as the day
has progressed. The average speed for the day so far is around
14mph. The peak gust for the day so far is around 41mph, which
occurred just before 1:30pm this afternoon.

Visibility has held steady at around 50 miles throughout the day.

The maximum temperature so far today is 40F degrees, which is
6 degrees below the normal high of 46F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 31F degrees, which is 1 degree above the
normal low of 30F.
