BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL AND WANDERING TEMPERATURES…
Today’s observation period was marked by significant
temperature fluctuation oscillating about the freezing point,
with overnight temperatures rising above 32F just after
2 A.M. this morning. The trend continued with temperatures
rising to 40F by 8 A.M., coupled with the snow of late last night
transitioning to rainfall in the early hours of the day.
In total, 6.5 ins. of snow were recorded for the 7 A.M.
observation, with rain continuing to fall at that time.
Alongside the steady overnight precipitation, pressure has been largely
in free fall, with the lowest readings of the month gathered during
today’s observations. After finally bottoming out, the mercury
appears to be on the rise again at the time of 1 P.M. Also
noteworthy has been the transition back to northwesterly winds
throughout the day. This shift has helped drive temperatures back
down below freezing in time for the afternoon hours.
