BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2024
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0618E
SUNSET:  1637E

MORNING CLOUDS FOLLOWED BY AFTERNOON SUN, BREEZY CONDITIONS….

This morning started with mostly cloudy skies and some thin fog
in the area. As the cold front moved past us, scattered showers
were observed in the area, but no precipitation for Blue Hill.
The afternoon has brought partly cloudy skies with very breezy
conditions.

Temperatures are again warmer than normal. Our overnight low is
currently 22 degrees above normal which will be a record minimum
temperature if it holds. We also have beat our record high of
75F as well, so it’s been a warm start to the month.

Winds have been very busy today, with a strong breeze out of the
west-southwest averaging at around 15mph. The peak gust so far for
the day is 34mph, which occurred just before noon.

Visibility has been impacted by the rising dew points and general
hazy conditions in the area. The afternoon clearing dropped the
dew points enough to give us a 60 mile visibility by the 1pm
observation. Unfortunately, we had a smoke plume develop ENE of the
observatory in the early afternoon hours.

The maximum temperature so far today is 76F, which is 21 degrees
above the normal high of 55F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 60F, which is 22 degrees above the normal low of 38F.
