WARM AND DRY WITH PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES, AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORM
Yesterday was the second day in June so far to not have an average
temperature below normal. Yesterday’s average temperature was 64F,
with a maximum temperature of 76F and minimum of 52F. So far today,
the maximum temperature was 78F. A minimum of 53F occurred this
morning. The air was dry with relative humidity in the mid 30s.
Winds have been increasing out of the W, and a peak of 23 kts
(26 MPH) out of the WNW was measured at 1:28 P.M. EST. Pressure
had been falling yesterday, but it began to rise around 7:00 A.M.
It began to fall again by the late morning. Visibility stayed at
70 miles for most of the area, except it was just 30 miles in the
east in the morning due to distant fog. Distant haze remained in
the area all day.
A thunderstorm approached Great Blue Hill in the afternoon. Thunder
was first heard around 1:45 P.M. EST, and it became more frequent
around 2:00 P.M. Shortly after that, rain began to fall heavily,
and Blue Hill measured about 0.14 inches (ASOS) of precipitation
in 15 minutes. Winds increased to a maximum of 48 MPH out of the
north. Temperatures dropped to 59F as the front moved in.
Visibility at times was at only 1/8 mile.
