HAZY CONDITIONS AND SMOKE LAYER RETURNS TO GREAT BLUE HILL…
The day began mild and sunny, with clear skies, though the
clouds moved in fairly early. Hazy conditions and a smoke layer
has made its way to our skies yet again, due to the Canadian wildfires.
The temperatures quickly climbed to the upper 70’s by the mid
morning with low 80’s reported as a maximum temperature so far
this afternoon. Dew points have remained constant in the mid 60’s
giving a very sticky feel to the air. Adding the sunshine and low
winds to the formula makes for a very summery feel!
The wind was light with some calm readings to the start of the day.
Fortunately, the wind has picked up a bit this afternoon with the
highest peak gust after the last observation of about 17mph. The
average so far has only been about 6 mph.
Visibility has been limited due to the smoke and hazy conditions;
we have seen about 30-40 miles for most of the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 81F, this is 1 degree
above the normal high of 80F. The minimum since midnight is 63F,
which is 1 degree above the normal low of 62F.
