REBOUND OF VISIBILITY THIS AFTERNOON AFTER A FOGGY MORNING…

Blue Hill Observatory started in the clouds today, with poor
visibility for most of the morning. With the appearance of the
sun, came a rise in visibility as well as dew point and temperature.
The absence of wind has not made for an ideal climate for anything
too strenuous such as biking or running, but a nice hike in the shade
would still be a safe bet.

Temperatures are slightly below average, however, with dew points
in the low to mid 60’s it has felt like anything but below average.
The pressure is starting to fall as of the last observation which
means the unstable air has arrived. This pattern will unfortunately
hold for a few days.

The wind has been unusually calm for most of the day. Our average
speed has only reached 4 mph with a gust of about 12 mph during the
overnight hours. The lack of wind has not helped give us any relief
with the climbing dew points either, making for a very sticky feel.

Visibility was under 10 miles for most of the morning and rebounded
quite nicely with 60 miles at the 13E observation. Once the fog
lifted, a layer of stratocumulus and cirrus could be seen.

The high temperature so far today is 73F, which is 5 degrees
below the normal maximum of 78F. The low since midnight is 58F,
which is 2 degrees below the normal minimum of 60F.
