FAST MOVING DISTANT THUNDERSTORMS WITH CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING
Today has been a partly cloudy day with mostly mixtures of cirrus and
cumulus with towering cumulus forming into cumulonimbus just before the
1:00 PM observation. A few cumulonimbus were seen over Boston NNW of
Great Blue Hill with distant cloud to ground lightning. We did not
receive precipitation during this thunderstorm.
Winds coming from the south started out light then picked up once low
pressure from tropical storm Cindy moved onto Great Blue Hill. We had
a peak gust of 29 kts (33 MPH) just after the 1:00 PM observation.
The day started off very humid and sticky but dropped through out the
day. Temperatures were above normal with a high of 88F by 1 PM,
normal is 77F.
