ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES MAKE WAY FOR EARLY AFTERNOON
THUNDERSTORMS AT BLUE HILL TODAY….

Today started off with bright sunshine and a few cirrus clouds.
By the mid morning, more clouds moved into the area which
developed into a thunderstorm just before the final daily
observation. The storm cooled the temperatures down, however
the dew points remain in the mid 60’s.

Temperatures quickly climbed this morning with ample sunshine
and sticky conditions with dew points in the mid 60’s. A steady
breeze from the SW helped the overall feel of the day, with a
sharp decrease in temperatures after a thunderstorm moved through
the area. As of 1pm EST we had received 0.19 inches of rain.

Winds have been fairly active throughout the day with an average
of around 13 mph. The thunderstorm that came through early this
afternoon produced a gust of 50 mph and then quickly decreased
to nearly calm conditions after. The wind was primarily out of
the SW for much of the day with the thunderstorm causing a shift
to the west during the storm.

Visibility was holding steady around 30 miles for most of the day
due to hazy conditions. During the final observation we only had
about a mile visibility because of the thunderstorm.

The maximum temperature so far today is 84 degrees, which is
9 degrees above the normal high of 75F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 63F degrees, which is 6 degrees above the normal
low of 57F.
