THUNDERSTORM BRINGS SHORT RESPITE FROM HEAT BUT THE HIGH
HUMIDITY LINGERS…
The day was overall hot and sticky again with dew points
continuing to be in the 70’s. We did have a short respite
from the heat midday with a low of 69F between 10:00 A.M
and 1:00 P.M. After another above normal temperature day
yesterday with a high of 91F, temps. have decreased today with
a high of 80F so far today. This is also the daily normal. A
thunderstorm began today around 10:15 A.M. EST and ended just
before noon. During the storm we had close lightning and rain
that was heavy at times. This is the first rainfall in July
and we measured 0.56 ins. so far today by 1:00 P.M. After the
thunderstorm moved out high humidity returned to 96% by 1:00 P.M.
The wind continues to be from the SSW and picked up overnight.
It was gusty this morning with a peak gust so far today of 37
MPH (32 kts) at 5:47 A.M. Wind was also strong with gust
up to 30 MPH (26 kts) during the thunderstorm.
