SHOWERS TO START, LOW CLOUDS STICK AROUND….

This morning began with rain showers moving through, which brought
a quarter of an inch of rainfall through 7am. With that, our 2024 precipitation
total (since January 1st) has made it to 3 feet, or exactly 36.00″,
which is 8.32″ above normal to date. Following the morning showers,
low clouds and thin fog have stubbornly stuck around, though a few breaks of
sunshine have been observed a bit after noon time.

The temperature has risen rather slowly today, as one might expect given the
conditions. We began in the upper 60s and have only reached the low 80s
by the early afternoon. The dew point has climbed into the mid 70s, creating a
tropical feel outside.

Winds have slowed since yesterday, but are still generally out of the
south-southwest. The average speed to this point is 8mph, with a peak
gust of only 16mph, taking place a bit after 1am.

Visibility was poor this morning due to dense fog, limited to
1/16 of a mile. As the cloud base has slowly lifted, views have
gradually improved to 12 miles by the afternoon.

The maximum temperature so far today is 80F, which is 1 degree
below the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 68F, which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 63F.
