A BEAUTIFUL START TO THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND WITH CLEAR SKIES
AND DRY AIR….
Yesterday’s scattered thunderstorms in the area only produced
0.03″ of rain for us at Blue Hill, which has us at -0.15″ for
the month so far. While not a big producer in precipitation,
the storm did bring in a colder air mass over the area, providing
us with some much needed dry air and comfortable dew points.
Temperatures have been much more comfortable and near seasonal,
with our overnight low at 60F, which was just 3 degrees above
normal. As of this writing, we still have not hit our expected high
for this time of year of 81F. Thankfully, dew points have also
dropped significantly, about 10F less than yesterday, making for a
much more comfortable and enjoyable day. Dew points have remained
in the low to mid 50s, with the dew point decreasing as the day
progressed, also increasing our visibility. It is rare that we get
to see a crisp, blue sky in July.
The wind was light this morning and has picked up just slightly
this afternoon. Winds have been out of the northwest and
west-northwest for much of the day. The average speed for the day
so far is around 10mph. The peak gust so far is 27mph, which
occurred around 11:30am.
Visibility has only improved throughout the day as the dry air
settles over the region. We started with 40 miles of visibility
this morning and had around 60 miles this afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is 79F degrees, which is 2
degrees below the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 60F degrees, which is 3 degrees above the normal
low of 63F.
