BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
FRIDAY, JULY 16, 2021
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
SUNRISE: 0422E
SUNSET: 1918E
FEELING QUITE TROPICAL ATOP GREAT BLUE HILL….
The main headline here today is the building heat and
elevated dew points. Overnight low only achieved 70F,
which nearly set a new record. Highest minimum temperature
for today is 71F set in 1901, 1958, 1968, & 2013. The
mercury has risen sharply throughout the morning, reaching
89F by 1 PM.
Skies have a milky appearance thanks to considerable haze. Few
cumulus and cirrus are decorating the scenery with developing
cumulonimbus to our distant west. Visibility is struggling to
break 30 miles. 25 statute miles is the peak thus far.
The high so far today is 89F, 7 degrees above the daily average
of 82F. The low so far today is 70F, which is 6 degrees above
the daily average of 64F.
On a side note, the renovations have begun in earnest this week.
We are no longer operating out of the tower and have moved to
another part of the building. All wind instruments on the main
tower have been taken offline and will remain so until further
notice. Please be patience with us as we navigate through our
new routine. Data at times may be delayed.
