MUCH LESS HUMID AND PLEASANTLY WARM UNDER SUNNY SKIES…

A few showers and storms popped up yesterday afternoon across
portions of eastern MA and RI, but of course not a drop of
rain found its way to Blue Hill. As such, the dry beat goes
on with the monthly rainfall deficit now at 1.05 inches and
the annual deficit at 7.89 inches.

Sunshine has been the theme today with only some decorative
cumulus and cirrus clouds around. Temperatures have warmed into
the low to mid 80s, so it’s pleasantly warm out there for mid
July standards (even though this is pretty much normal via the
30-year averages for mid July). What is unusual for mid July
is the dew point reading that has dipped into the upper 40s this
afternoon. Just doesn’t get any better than this at this time
of year.

The wind has been quite light all day out of a mainly northerly
direction this morning. However this afternoon the direction
has become a bit variable as a sea-breeze unsuccessfully tries
to push inland a bit. The average speed for the day has only
been around 8mph.

The high so far today is 84F, which is 2 degrees above the
normal maximum of 82F. The low since midnight is 61F, which
is 3 degrees below the normal minimum of 64F.
