LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM BRINGS WARMER TEMPERATURES,
RAIN TO BLUE HILL…

The sky has remained overcast all day, and with the addition of
precipitation we have added fog to the mix. Today has felt like a
raw, chilly spring day instead of winter, thanks to the warm air
advection that warmed us up briefly ahead of the rain arrival.

Temperatures have been much warmer than previously this week, which
has started to thaw some of the snow up here at the summit. When the
rain started during the late morning hours, it slowed the rise of the
temperatures, but we have hit above average for the day.

Winds shifted from the WNW to SSW yesterday evening and have stayed
in the southerly direction today, bringing the warmer moist air to
our area. The speeds have been averaging around 17mph for the day
so far, with frequent gusts of 20-25mph occurring throughout the day.
The peak gust so far of 30mph occurred around 7:30am.

Visibility has been poor, with 30 miles at the start of the day
through the mid morning. Once the rain moved in, we experienced some
foggy conditions that took us to only 1/4 mile of visibility.

The maximum temperature for today is 40F degrees, which is 5 degrees
above the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 23F degrees, which is 6 degrees above the normal low of 17F.
