THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM….

It is a rather pleasant mid-winter day out there! Temperatures
are in the low-30s coinciding with gentle winds making it
pretty easy to take after some pronounced cold earlier this
week. In fact, winds have only been decreasing since the clock
struck midnight. Skies are overcast with a mid-layer mix
of altostratus and altocumulus. Visibility is meager averaging
35 miles.

All eyes are on the approaching nor’easter tonight into tomorrow.
Guidance suggests temperatures will fall later tonight as a cold front
swings through. The low pressure center will develop off the Florida
coast and undergo bombogenesis. While the minimum criteria for a storm
to be classified as bombogenesis is 24+mb drop in 24 hours, our storm
looks to plummet 50+mb in 24hrs! Just as we have done since 1885, we
will be here recording all the vital elements.

The high so far today is 33F, this is 1 degree below the normal
high of 34F. The low since midnight is 21F, which is 4 degrees
above the normal minimum of 17F.
