DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY

ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

FAIR WEATHER MARKS SIGNIFICANT DEPARTURE FROM YESTERDAY’S STORM….

Yesterday’s storm brought extremely high temperatures to the Blue Hills
as well as a heavy dose of rain that continues to boost totals above
average for the month.  Yesterday’s high temperature of 57 F finished
just 3 degrees below the daily record high as fierce southerly winds propelled
warm air into the region throughout the day.  Wind speeds were strong and sustained,
with exceptional gusts reaching up to 80 MPH.  Hourly averages were also
significant, with an average speed of 48 MPH produced from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M..
Yesterday’s station pressure bottomed out around 5:30 P.M., with a very low
reading reaching around 965 MB.  Since then, pressure has been largely on the rise,
with skies reflecting this trend through an absence of cloud activity in the
morning hours, but with some fair weather cumulus filtering in before the afternoon.
