SKIES CLEARING BY MID MORNING WITH CONTINUED BELOW NORMAL
TEMPERATURES….
We started the day under overcast conditions but clearing began
during the mid morning hours. By the afternoon we had thinly
scattered skies with plenty of bright sunshine and blue skies.
Temperatures were in the lower teens during the overnight and
early morning, and have ‘recovered’ to the mid 20’s, which is
still about 11 degrees below normal. Wind chills this morning
were in the negative and single digits and have improved to
the teens as of this afternoon. Dew points have remained in the
single digits throughout the day today, contributing to the
persisting chill in the air.
The wind has been a bit lighter today compared to yesterday, but
we have still had a decent flow out of the west-southwest for
much of the day. The average speed for the day so far is around
11mph. The peak gust so far is 26mph, which occurred just after
12:30am this morning.
Visibility has hovered between 50-60 miles today, with the best
viewing during the early morning hours.
The maximum temperature so far today is 25F degrees, which is
11 degrees below the normal high of 36F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 12F degrees, which is 9 degrees below the normal
low of 21F.
