CLEAR SKIES, WARMER TEMPERATURES, STILL BREEZY ON THE HILL TODAY….

Sunshine with only distant clouds offshore has been the theme today.
With the sunshine has come a slight warming in temperatures that have
brought us up to seasonal expectations.

Yesterday’s snow event yielded only a trace in the books for Blue Hill.
According to climate normals, we have a snowfall departure -7.4 inches
for the season and a liquid precipitation departure of -0.81 inches for
the year.

Temperatures have improved nicely since the pressure gradient has
started to weaken and move out of the region. We started this morning
in the lower 20s and have reached the mid 30s by early afternoon.
Despite the warming, the wind has kept us still feeling the cold
though, with wind chills in the upper teens to lower 20s throughout
the day. Wind chills were in the single digits this morning so it is
definitely an improvement at least.

Winds are fairly active today, but not as gusty as the previous few
days. The average speed for the day so far is around 16mph. The wind
has remained constant with winds from the NW and WNW directions. The
peak gust so far today is 39mph, which occurred just after midnight.

Visibility has been overall really nice. With the continued dry air and
clear sky conditions we have had up to 80 miles of viewing pleasure today!

The maximum temperature for today is 38F degrees, which is 3 degrees above
the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature since midnight is 19F
degrees, which is equal to the normal low for today.
