RETURN OF SUNSHINE TO START THE WEEKEND, BLUSTERY CONDITIONS
ON GREAT BLUE HILL TODAY….

This morning we had overcast conditions which quickly improved after
sunrise. Throughout the day we have had partly to mostly cloudy
conditions, but the sun has been a nice friend to see, especially
after yesterday’s conditions.

Speaking of which, yesterday’s snow-ice-freezing rain event netted us
0.19 inches of liquid and 1.0 inches of snow. We are still in a deficit
for the month and season in both categories for now.

Temperatures warmed during the overnight hours, as our daily high for
yesterday occurred at 11pm! During the early morning we “dipped” down
to 32F and have only slightly improved to 38F by the final observation.
The blustery wind conditions have kept the temperatures from rising too
much, though the sun has been out for much of the day. It just doesn’t
feel as warm as the mercury reads today.

Winds were the main feature today! We started out with around 10 mph
average winds from the NW during the early morning. A little after
8:30am we had a slight wind shift from the WNW and the wind intensified
quite a bit as the cold air advection moved through. We have had
frequent gusts of over 30mph for much of the mid and late morning hours.
Our average speed so far is around 16mph and our current peak gust of
48mph occurred at 9:24am.

Visibility started the day around 40 miles and improved to 60 miles
by 1pm.

The maximum temperature for today is 38F degrees, which is 3 degrees
above the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 32F degrees, which is 14 degrees above the normal low of 18F.
