LIGHT WINDS ALONGSIDE SUNNY SKIES ATOP GREAT BLUE HILL….
After yesterday’s busy west-northwest wind peaking at 50 MPH,
things have settled down quite a bit. We are averaging about
8 MPH, down from nearly 20 MPH experienced as a whole yesterday.
The lighter winds are making the seasonable temperatures feel
much warmer.
Visibility has been excellent thus far averaging 80 miles.
Our main mountain markers (Mount Wachusett and Mount Monadnock),
are in clear sight!
Despite the above average temperatures this week, our snow depth
stands at 8 inches this afternoon – a testament to its high water
content. A gaze to our east and southeast indicates both Houghton’s
Pond and Ponkapoag remain 100% ice covered, though ice depth has
likely shrunk with the mild weather of this week.
The high so far today is 38F, 1 degree below the daily
average max of 39F. The low since midnight is 22F, 1
degree above the daily average low of 21F.
