MISSING WIND DATA DUE T0 FROZEN WIND INSTRUMENTS…
Many of the wind instruments have been reading erroneously due
to a thin layer of glaze. Data will be considered missing and
will be designated by the letter M in the preliminary information
section. Large chunks of ice could be heard falling from the
instruments throughout the day. Today has been breezy with wind
from the NW. Gusts became stronger in the afternoon with a peak
gust so far of 34 kts (39 MPH) at 1:05 P.M. and multiple gusts
over 30 kts (35 MPH).
Snow from yesterday continued overnight into early this morning
leaving a storm total of 4.0 inches. of snow and 1.15 inches of
liquid precipitation. Snow ended before 7 A.M. besides a short
duration snow squall that moved in around 8:30 a.m. and was over
just after 9:00 a.m. leaving an additional trace of precipitation.
Visibility has been variable in the morning due to a thin fog layer
and increased humidity. By the afternoon visibility increased to
60 miles and humidity decreased from 93% to 74%. Cloud cover was a
mixture of broken cumulus and stratocumulus throughout the day.
The temperature has been fairly consistent today but has begun
to decrease from a high so far of 33F to 27F at the 1 P.M.
observation. Temperatures are expected to continue to drop
overnight.
The high so far today is 33F, which is 6 degrees below the
normal maximum of 39F. The low since midnight is 26F, which
is 4 degrees above the normal low of 21F.
