PLENTY OF SUNSHINE TODAY, COLD AND BLUSTERY YET AGAIN….
We started the day under partly to mostly cloudy skies which slowly
started to clear as the day progressed. Sunshine and blustery winds
have been the theme for today, so although we have managed to get
closer to seasonable temperatures, it really doesn’t feel like it!
As mentioned, temperatures have warmed slightly, though the wind chill
has not given us the satisfaction of experiencing the “warmth” of
above freezing temperatures. We have finally reached above freezing
which we haven’t seen since last Sunday!
Yesterday we had some brief ocean effect snow that only amounted to
a trace of liquid and snow precipitation.
Late last night, the winds picked up and have pretty much stayed
consistent all day. The average speed for the day so far is at an
impressive 17mph, with a predominately northwesterly flow. We have had
frequent gusts over 30mph throughout the day and our peak gust so far
is 37mph, which occurred after our final observation, around 1:08pm.
Visibility has slowly improved as the clouds moved from our area. We
started this morning at 40 miles and made it up to around 60 miles
by the early afternoon. A low dew point, hovering between 10-12F has
also been responsible for giving us a crisp blue sky for much of the day.
The maximum temperature for today is 32F degrees, which is 6 degrees below
the normal high of 38F. The minimum temperature since midnight is 17F
degrees, which is 4 degrees below the normal low of 21F.
