BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
WET FOGGY DAY WITH RISING TEMPERATURES….
Rain held off until just before the 7 A.M. observation, with only a trace
of precipitation measured at that time. Since then, rain and drizzle have
endured throughout the day, along with yesterday’s clear skies yielding to
the advance of fog that has encompassed the blue hills since around 8 A.M..
Pressure has continued to fall throughout the day, with significant drops
observed in comparison to the relatively high pressure readings taken over
the past couple of days. Winds have increased throughout the morning, with
strong southerly winds ushering in warm air that has already produced unseasonably
high temperatures. Already, at the time of 1 P.M., a high temperature of
49 F has been produced. Likewise, elevated gusts reached a maximum of 43 MPH
so far today.
Yesterday, despite modest northerly winds, the day went down in the books as
warmer than average, largely thanks to a high minimum temperature of 26 F.
With only a few days left in the December, the month is looking like it will
close out as a warm one, with a departure of +27 F at the time of this discussion.
