OVERCAST SKIES AND WINDY CONDITIONS KEEP AUGUST FEELING
COOLER THAN NORMAL ON GREAT BLUE HILL…
Today has been mostly overcast and cloudy with only a brief
peek of the sun early this morning. A strong breeze out of the
SSW and the overcast skies have aided in keeping the temperature
just below normal. However, the higher dew points have made a
come back to the hill, but despite that it’s been a pleasant day
overall.
The dew point continues to increase and was in the mid to upper
60’s today. Although it’s starting to feel a bit sticky, the
overcast skies and breezy conditions have helped it not feel as
uncomfortable.
Wind has been very active today on the hill, with an average of
about 14 mph so far. Our highest gust was 29 mph during the
4am hour, but we have frequently had gusts in the mid 20’s
throughout the morning and afternoon. The wind has predominantly
been out of the SSW and S for much of the day.
The visibility has been limited today with the recent increase of
dew points to the area causing hazy conditions as well as some smoke
aloft this morning. We started off with 50 miles of visibility this
morning and have had about 30 miles for the remainder of the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 79F, this is 3 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature today is
62F, which is 2 degrees below the normal low of 64F.
