RAIN IN THE AREA, THOUGH BLUE HILL REMAINS MOSTLY DRY TODAY….

Today has been mostly dry, though rain has been seen in the
areas surrounding the hill, but we have only received a trace
of precipitation, all before 7am this morning. Skies have been
mostly overcast with some breaks in overcast and a variety of
altostratus, cumulus, and altocumulus castelleanus clouds. By the
early afternoon we had some clearing, but rain showers and storms
could still be seen lingering to our WNW and ESE directions.
This means that we can’t quite count on staying dry today, as
the atmosphere is quite unstable.

Temperatures have been slow to warm today, and because of the
lack of sunshine and cooler upper air aloft, we are still about
5 degrees below what is expected for this time of year. We have
managed to make it to 73F, and overnight lows were warmer than
the previous day at 60F. The increase of the overnight temps
along with the rain and passing cold front has increased the
dew points, making it feel just a tad bit sticker than over the
past couple of days. We had dew points in the 40s yesterday but
today has been in the upper 50s and low 60s.

The wind has been steady today, averaging around 13mph. We had
a strong southerly flow from about 7pm last night and through
the morning hours until around 10am when winds became out of the
south-southeast. The peak gust for the day so far is around 29mph,
which occurred just after 10am this morning.

Visibility has been impacted today by the rising dew points and
the rain showers in the vicinity. We have had around 50 miles of
visibility throughout the day, with a little less in the afternoon
due to nearby showers obscuring our view.

The maximum temperature so far today is 73F degrees, which is
5 degrees below the normal high of 78F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 60 degrees, which is 1 degree below the normal
low of 61F.
