HAZY, HOT, AND HUMID TODAY WITH INCREASING CLOUD COVER….

There has been plenty of sunshine into the early afternoon, but
clouds are starting to increase in density and types. Mainly a
high thin cirrus layer was the theme through the morning into
early this afternoon, however low and mid level clouds are
making an appearance in growing coverage as we work through the
early afternoon hours, and the convective process gets maximized
by plenty of strong surface heating.

The heat is on today with temperatures reaching the mid 90s even
here on the summit. With a dew point in the upper 60s to near 70,
the heat index has reached the upper 90s at times. Needless to
say one must use extreme caution if they will be spending an
extended period of time outdoors today, especially during
exertive activities.

Making it worse is the fact that the wind has been quite light
to this point today. The average speed for the day so far is only
around 7mph. The peak gust for the day is 17mph, which occurred
just before 1:30am this morning.

Visibility has been limited to about 20 miles all day due to the
hazy conditions.

The maximum temperature so far today is 94F, which is 12 degrees
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 73F, which is 9 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
