RAIN MOVES OUT EARLY MORNING, COOL START TO AUGUST….
We received 0.95 inches of rain as a front passed through the
area last night and into this morning. The total rain received
in the month of July stands at 6.22 inches which is +2.75 inches
above normal.
This morning we were in the clouds as the rain was still moving
out of the area. Once that happened, we had partly cloudy skies
and dry conditions. We did receive 0.55 inches of rain from
midnight through the early morning, so August is already off
to a wet and chilly start.
Temperatures remain below normal today, with a high temperature
only reaching 70F so far. Dew points have been hovering in the
upper 50’s for much of the day as well, which has made for a
very comfortable start to the month.
The wind has been steady out of the northeast and east-northeast
today, averaging at around 11mph. We had a few gusts later in
the morning and afternoon of around 18-20 mph. The peak gust so
far the day is 28mph, which occurred at 2:46am this morning.
Visibility was only about 1/8th of a mile this morning with the
continued rain, but marginally improved once we had some clearing
of the sky. Still though, due to some late fog and hazy conditions
in the afternoon, we only improved to about 35 miles.
The maximum temperature so far today is 70F degrees, which is
12 degrees below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 57F degrees, which is 7 degrees below the
normal low of 64F.
