Volunteer Tour Guide

Get trained to give public tours of the Observatory’s weather observation station — a National Historic Landmark and 1 of only 11 “Centennial Observing Stations” in the country.  Volunteers in this role will be trained on a variety of tours and the Observatory’s expansive history. This opportunity offers flexible hours ranging from 3 to 12 hours per week, depending on your schedule and our seasonal needs. Consider volunteering if you are eager to connect the public to this historic site or have a passion for weather, atmospheric science or education. For more information on this volunteer opportunity, click here.

Volunteers must successfully complete a CORI/SORI Background Check, be able to climb three flights of stairs regularly and be available for one volunteer training (March 8, March 23 or individually scheduled). Applications are due March 1, 2025 at 5 PM.

Interested volunteers should submit their application on VolunteerMatch.
