Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Tour Guide

Volunteer Tour Guides are a vital part of connecting visitors to Blue Hill Observatory’s weather observation station—a National Historic Landmark and one of the nation’s longest continuously operating meteorological observatories.

Volunteers in this role are trained to lead public tours highlighting the Observatory’s 140+ year continuous Weather Observation Program, historic instruments, and scientific legacy. Volunteers must successfully complete a CORI/SORI Background Check, be able to climb three flights of stairs regularly and be available for one volunteer training session at the Observatory.

Time Commitment
Flexible scheduling, typically 3–12 hours per week, depending on availability and seasonal needs. Weekend availability is especially helpful.
