About the Program
Blue Hill Observatory is proud to establish an artist residency program, contributing to the continuous connection and relationship between art and science. The Observatory has long been an inspiration to artists of all kinds and we are grateful to provide local artists space to share their work with the public.
Duration
Artists may present their work in residencies for approximately 2–3 months and will partner with the Observatory ahead of the installation.
Eligibility
You must be in residence within the Greater Boston area. We encourage artists of all cultural backgrounds and disciplines to apply.
Engagement
We expect artists-in-residence to be actively and meaningfully engaged in the work (e.g., hosting special events, connecting to their guides).

📋 Project Parameters
- Maintain the general subject, topic, or scope of your proposal
- Work with the Observatory to align with our mission
- Attendance may be encouraged during onboarding
