Blue Hill Observatory April 2026 Summary:
April 2026 was generally warm with below average precipitation and snowfall and near average sunshine. The approximated 24-hour mean temperature for the month of 46.8 deg F was 1.9 degrees warmer than the 1891-2020 130-year average for April, and it was 0.1 degrees warmer than the 1991-2020 30-year average. The average maximum temperature of 57.5 deg F was 1.2 degrees warmer than the 30-year normal, and the average minimum temperature of 37.7 deg F was 0.2 degrees less than the 30-year normal. After many warm days during the first half of the month, April turned much cooler. The highest temperature was 83F on the 14th, and the lowest temperature was 25F on the 8th. April mean water vapor pressure, which is an absolute measure of water vapor in the air, was 8.0 mb, which corresponded to a mean dew point of about 39F. This amount was above the long-term mean water vapor pressure for April of 6.8 mb, which equals a mean dew point of about 35F. April was a relatively dry and storm-free month with a total precipitation of just 2.00 inches, which was 2.76 inches less than the 30-year normal. Only fourteen days had measurable precipitation, and no days had as much as a half inch. The greatest amount in 24 hours was 0.57 inches on the 1st-2nd.
