RAINY, FOGGY, AND COOL CONDITIONS TODAY HERE AT BLUE HILL…

Cloudy skies with periods of rain have been the theme today
with a cool and raw feel out there. Temperatures started in
the mid to upper 40s early this morning, and has only risen
to the low 50s early this afternoon.

Rainfall through 7am this morning totaled 0.51″, with an
additional 0.16″ being measured through 1pm, giving us a
storm total thus far of 0.67″. Despite the recent rainfall,
the month is still running more than a 3.50″ deficit in the
precipitation department.

The wind has been on the light side again today, first out of
the east-southeast, then backing to the north and north-
northwest late this morning. The average speed so far today
has only been around 8mph. The peak gust is only around 21mph
so far, which occurred just before 5:30am this morning.

Visibility has of course been drastically limited by the rain
and fog, with the view peaking at around half a mile for a
short time late this morning.

The maximum temperature so far today is 52F, which is 4 degrees
below the normal high of 56F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 44F, which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 39F.

As we have passed the number 1 spot for the latest minimum
temperature below 40F a week ago, this makes 2023 first in
the rankings for the latest temperature below 40. We should
finally dip below 40F tomorrow morning, but stay tuned!

Here are the current rankings as compiled by our Chief Scientist,
Mike Iacono.
