A HOT, YET DRY DAY WITH INCREASING CLOUDS….

Yesterday, the wind continued to ramp up, especially
mid to late afternoon. A peak gust of 67 mph was
measured at 4:06 P.M., being the highest gust
measured. Frequent gusts over 50 mph continued
into the early evening hours.

This wind is the strongest gust at Blue Hill from a
tropical system since 76 mph E on 29 October 2012 due
to Hurricane Sandy.

Today we observed hazy and hot conditions
following last night’s rain, which totaled
0.21 inches. Conditions were hazy, but the
visibility reached a max of 50 miles at the
10 P.M. observation. Wind was much lower than
yesterday, with a max gust of 25 mph, and
an average speed of 15 mph. The weather was
hot yet enjoyable, with dew points remaining
in the low 60’s, even with a high temperature
of 90F reached this afternoon. This is 9 degrees
above the daily normal high of 81F. The low since
midnight is 68F, which is 5 degrees above the
daily normal low of 63F.
