RAIN TURNS TO WET SNOW EARLY THIS MORNING, ACCUMULATING
SLOWLY WITH GUSTY WINDS SHIFTING N TO NW, NEW DAILY SNOWFALL
RECORD BROKEN

Rain changed over to snow at 6:50 AM EST this morning during the
7:00 AM EST observation. Snow began falling lightly, then turning
moderate by the 10:00 AM EST observation. Visibility was reduced
during this time to 1/4 of a mile due to the moderate snow and
fog. By 11:30 AM snow had accumulated to 1.6 inches on the ground.
Today’s daily record snowfall of 0.2 inches set in 1906 and 1951
has unofficially been broken, with statistics to follow tomorrow.
By the 1:00 PM EST observation 1.8 inches of snow had fallen so
far today.

Winds have remained gusty throughout this morning shifting NNE to
NW by mid day. The peak gust by mid day was 39 MPH from the N with
temperatures falling to 31F.
