DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SUNDAY, JANUARY 12, 2020
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

WARM AND WINDY WITH EXCELLENT VISIBILITY IN THE
AFTERNOON….

The main story here today is, again, the wind and temperatures.
A strong southwest wind is moving unseasonably warm air into the
region. The high so far today is 67F which will break the old
record of 60 degrees set in 2018. The records broken yesterday
were the maximum temperature and the high minimum temperature:
The daily record maximum temperature is now 65F, replacing the
60F set in 1975. The daily record high minimum temperature is
now 46F, breaking the previous record of 40F; set in 1983.

Wind has not let up since yesterday, but has shifted from southwest
to west following the last bit of rainfall. The max gust so far today
is 59 mph, seen around 5 A.M. Overnight rain amounted to 0.08 inches,
with an additional 0.01 inches falling after the 7 A.M. observation.
After the fog cleared early this morning, visibility rose to an
exceptional 85 miles by noontime.
