INCREASING CLOUDS THIS MORNING, LEADS TO SNOW DEVELOPING
THIS AFTERNOON….
After a cold, but dry weekend, a storm system approaching
the region to our south has lead to increasing cloud cover
this morning, and now to the development of snow, which
began falling just after our 1pm observation.
As would be expected with snowfall moving into the area,
visibility has decreased significantly as the day has
progressed. We started the day with 60 miles, down to a
prevailing visibility of 30 miles at 1pm, but only 10 miles
to the southwest and 15 miles to the west as the snow moved
in. As of 2pm EST, visibility was down to 1 mile in light
to moderate snow.
Any precipitation is welcomed at this point as we’ve been
running quite the deficit since the start of the year. Total
liquid precipitation for the year through 7am this morning
was only 5.75 inches. This is -6.59 inches below normal to
date. We will be adding to our snowfall totals for the
2019-2020 “winter” season and will have those stats for you
tomorrow.
The overnight low was 25F, this is 4 degrees below the
normal low of 29F. The high so far today is 38F, 8 degrees
below the normal max of 46F.
