DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY

ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
BACK TO REALITY AFTER RECORD WARMTH OVER THE WEEKEND….
Yesterday brought the second day in a row of record high
temperatures. The high yesterday topped out at 68 degrees,
which not only was a record for the day, but also tied for the
highest temperature ever recorded in the month of January. The
old record for yesterday was 60 degrees set in 2018. The only
other January day to reach 68 degrees was January 26, 1950.
Along with the warm temperatures yesterday was yet another day
of strong winds. Peak gust for the day was officially 60 mph out
of the south-southwest at 4:41 A.M.
Today was a stark contrast of the last couple of days with cloudy
skies and temperatures holding in the 30s. Even a period of light
snow occurred this morning thanks to some ocean effect moisture
moving onshore. A light easterly wind has been the theme today
as well.
The high for today is 39 degrees, this is 6 degrees above the
normal high of 33 degrees. The low since midnight is 31 degrees,
this is 14 degrees above the normal low of 17 degrees.
