MORNING PRECIPITATION, COOLER TEMPERATURES, AND CALMER WINDS

0.01 ins. of rain fell this morning at Great Blue Hill. Light rain was observed falling at the 7:00 A.M. EST observation, but it stopped shortly after that and there has not been much more precipitation since then. Visibility this morning was low at 15 miles due to fog and falling rain, but visibility increased to 70 miles for the rest of the late morning and afternoon. Relative humidity lowered as the day went on with dew points remaining in the lower 50s as temperatures increased.

A maximum temperature of 64F was measured so far today, which is 11F below the normal maximum temperature of 75F for June 15th. The minimum recorded this morning of 53F is 5F below the normal low temperature of 57F. While today’s temperatures have been cool, yesterday ended up having slightly warmer than average temperatures. The average temperature of 69F was 3F above the normal temperature for June 14th. These warmer temperatures did not make much of a dent in the total temperature departure for the month. We are now 25F below normal for the month of June, or 2.0F degrees per day below normal.

Winds have been much calmer today. The peak gust yesterday was measured in the late morning at 35 MPH out of the west. The peak gust so far for today was 17 MPH out of the northeast very early this morning, and since then winds have been lighter. Around midnight last night, the wind shifted from the west-northwest to the northeast.
